Mukono Bishop Urges New Lay Readers to Remain Faithful in Gospel Ministry

The Bishop of Mukono Diocese, Rt. Rev. Enos Kitto Kagodo, has urged newly commissioned Lay Readers to remain faithful in their calling as they take up Gospel ministry across the Diocese.

He made the remarks whilst commissioning 55 Lay Readers for Gospel ministry, while 44 others who completed their two-year probationary service were confirmed and commissioned for continued service.

The commissioning ceremony was held at Glover C. Wilcox School of Mission and Evangelism (St. John Bible College) in Nakanyonyi.

In his sermon, he urged the ministers to remain committed to preaching the Gospel and also called upon Christians to support and encourage those called into ministry.

“Remain faithful in preaching the Gospel, safeguarding Church property, and serving God with integrity,” he said.

Ngogwe Archdeacon Ven. Canon Stephen Kironde, who preached during the service, encouraged the ministers to depend on God, remain steadfast in prayer, and faithfully carry His Word to the people.

The College Principal, Rev. Asaph Mugabi Nyanzi, said the Lay Readers had been adequately trained for ministry but noted challenges facing the institution, including inadequate water supply, land encroachment, and poor infrastructure.

During the event, more than Shs 8 million was raised to support the college’s operations and development, and Mama Deborah Lubega was appointed Chaplain of the institution.
